Intended for both science and nonscience majors. The course covers the basic workings of the ocean including its physics, chemistry, and biology. The course also examines threats to the health of the ocean and the important role the ocean plays in global climate change. Nonscience majors should pay particular attention to this course because it fulfills a science requirement for certain colleges. CALS students who are interested in fulfilling the Intro Bio Distribution requirement for non–life science majors should see BIOEE 1560 /EAS 1560 .
