ITAL 2970 - Introduction to Italian Literature-Utopia and Justice (LA-AS) Satisfies Option 1. Fall. 4 credits.
Prerequisite: ITAL 2090 or permission of instructor. Core course for Italian Studies major.
S. Selenu.
By introducing students to Italian literature, this course will help them develop their competence in the Italian language and culture at an advanced level. In order to acquire familiarity with the language in various historical and literary contexts, students will read and discuss short texts by diverse writers and a best seller novel. We will read writings about youth, utopias, and the city so as to discuss and write about the ways literature expresses dreams, desires, conflicts, and fears. This is a great course for students who want to continue their study of Italian language and culture after ITAL 2190 and are planning to take other courses at the 3000 and 4000 level.
