Spring. 3 credits. (May be repeated for credit.)

Prerequisite: PMA 2810 , audition. Permission of instructor required.

Topic: THE THREE SISTERS

Rehearsal preparation/studio production of Anton Chekhov’s THE THREE SISTERS:  Rehearsing/performing strategies and skills investigated using Anton Chekhov’s THE THREE SISTERS as source material. Culminates in a staged studio presentation of the play at the semester’s end for invited audiences in the Black Box theater.  14 actors, by audition.

This class will explore how the body is used to communicate both onstage and off.  We will examine centers, gesture, rhythm and tempo and find  new ways to combine various elements of physical expression in order to create character.  Students can expect to end the semester more physically fit and with a strong understanding of the tools an actor can use to physicalize a role.
