EAS 1101 - Earth Science in the 21st Century (PBS) Fall. 3 credits.

Provides a basic understanding of earth processes, emphasizing those critical to humans in the 21st century and beyond. Designed for non-science majors. Topics include energy, water resources, natural hazards (earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanoes, landslides, floods, delta subsidence), coastal processes, river systems, climate change, and mountain building among others. Current events relating to the earth are highlighted and difficult choices facing society discussed. The course develops an appreciation for the Earth, its history and how it works. (Students interested in a more formal introduction to Earth sciences with a lab should register for EAS 2200 instead.)
