ECE 3400 - Electrical and Computer Engineering Practice and Design

Fall. 4 credits. Letter grades only.

Prerequisite: ECE 2100   ECE 2200  and ECE 2300 .

C. Poitras.

A brief history of electrical and computer engineering, the core subjects that define the field today, the ethical standards of its practice, and instruction in the elements of the process of designing electrical devices and systems. Students engage in experiential-learning design projects in which they will use the design process strategies to function well on a team and to design a system that meets customer needs and electrical engineering constraints.

Outcome 1: Ability to apply specific design methodologies to the course project.

Outcome 2: Ability to use experimental and simulation methods to the design of a system.

Outcome 3: Demonstrate an ability to work effectively on a team.

Outcome 4: Demonstrate an ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, the system design process through which the project was implemented.

Outcome 5: Understand professional and ethical responsibilities in the context of a contemporary issue in a specific discipline within ECE.
