The research-oriented seminar examines why institutions matter in enabling, motivating and guiding social and economic life. The course begins with an overview account of the variety of institutional analysis are addressed, followed by development of research papers for the course. Focal themes of the seminar include the role of the state, market processes, norms and networks, agency and structure.
