PLSCI 7980 - Graduate Teaching Experience in Plant Sciences

Fall, Spring. 1-4 credits, variable. S/U grades only (no audit).

Designed to give graduate students teaching experience through involvement in planning and teaching courses under the supervision of SIPS faculty members. May include leading discussion sections; preparing, assisting in, or teaching lectures and laboratories; and tutoring.

Outcome 1: Explain course content effectively to others.

Outcome 2: Appreciate the diversity of student learning styles and associated needs.

Outcome 3: Develop their own teaching philosophy.

Outcome 4: Critically self-reflect in order to enhance their skills and/or performance.

Outcome 5: Engage students in the learning process.

Outcome 6: Develop effective classroom materials (i.e., PowerPoint presentations, lab experiences, review sheets).

Outcome 7: Demonstrate respect for all students and their inclusive communities.
