HADM 1410 - Microeconomics for the Service Industry


     
Spring. 3 credits. Letter grades only.

Forbidden Overlap: due to an overlap in content, students will not receive credit for both ECON 1110  and HADM 1410.
Enrollment limited to: SHA students. Satisfies Core requirement for SHA students.

Introduces students to microeconomic principles and theories in the context of applications and solutions associated with the service industry with a focus on hospitality and travel. Topics include principles of production, supply and demand, firm behavior, costs, pricing, and topics specifically associated with the travel and hospitality industry. Course work includes readings, lectures, discussions, problem sets, and guest speakers.

Outcome 1: PLO 1.1: Students will identify key issues and appropriately apply discipline principles to analyze a hospitality management solution.

Outcome 2: PLO 1.2: Students will critically evaluate a hospitality management problem and will formulate a solution based on principles from at least two management disciplines.
