This course offers an introduction to the Judeo-Arabic language and culture that was employed as the mother tongue and literary language of Jews of Arabic speaking lands for centuries during the pre-modern period. It engages close readings of select literary and documentary texts of diverse genres and situates them in the context of Judeo-Arabic Islamicate culture.
