BEE 3910 - Advanced Bio-Robotics Spring. 3 credits. Student option grading.
Prerequisite: BEE 3900 or equivalent. Co-meets with BEE 5910 .
S. Jung.
Students translate materials learned in BEE 3900 to explore bio-robotics for biological engineering applications such as fruit harvesting. Embedding robotics into biological systems (i.e. plants or animals) will be tested with soft bio-robotics. Students will translate the concept and basic principles of biorobotics into a practical robot in this course. Their designed robot will meet ASABE national robotic competition standards.
Outcome 1: Review and identify state-of-the-art research using Raspberry Pi.
Outcome 2: Identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering robotic components by applying principles of engineering, science and mathematics.
Outcome 3: Apply robotic design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of agricultural health and safety.
Outcome 4: Create a robot as a final product by applying engineering and biology principles.
Outcome 5: Develop performance verification tests to assess if the system meets or exceeds your team’s design specifications.
