Developing a working knowledge of lighting design while seeking light as a transformative element, students will create lighting design/documentation and build light fixtures.
Outcome 1: Immersion in luminance as a spatial opportunist.
Outcome 2: Competency in principles of light, color theory, luminaire typologies, lighting calculations, energy efficiency and re-lamping techniques (ASHRAE Standards).
Outcome 3: Identify / classify luminaire / lighting types, luminance categories.
Outcome 4: Manipulation and integration of lighting technology and spatial dynamics.
Outcome 5: Model-making and hands-on experience building a light fixture.
