AEM 5600 - Managerial Economics


     
Fall. 4 credits. Letter grades only.

Forbidden Overlap: due to an overlap in content, students will receive credit for only one course in the following group: AEM 2600 , AEM 5600, ECON 3030 , PAM 2000 .
Prerequisite: ECON 1110 , ECON 1120 , MATH 1110  or equivalents. Enrollment limited to: MPS students in Applied Economics and Management.

This course covers topics in microeconomics that inform managerial decisions, including intermediate principles of microeconomics. Examples will be drawn from recent business cases.

Outcome 1: Know and be able to use economic models of production and consumption to make predictions about behavior.

Outcome 2: Apply economic models to business cases for the purpose of evaluating decisions.

Outcome 3: Use economic models of risky choice and time discounting to evaluate decisions.

Outcome 4: Use economic models of monopolistic competition to make predictions about behavior.

Outcome 5: Use basic concepts of game theory in simple games to make behavioral predictions.
