COMM 6770 - Attitudes and Social Judgment

This graduate seminar surveys classic and contemporary theory and research in the area of attitude formation and change, and the implications of those processes for how people make judgments and decisions in the social world. In addition, it provides students with practical suggestions for improving their future research on attitudes and attitude change.

Outcome 1: Identify what attitudes are and how to measure them.

Outcome 2: Explain the implications of attitudes for communication, persuasion, and social influence.

Outcome 3: Differentiate between the influence of attitudes on behavior and the influence of behavior on attitudes.

Outcome 4: Identify conditions under which individual differences influence attitude measurement.

Outcome 5: Develop surveys that can measure attitudes reliably.
